GA4 Setup Help

Step 1: Create Your GA4 Property

Follow these instructions:

  1. Log in to your Google Analytics account.
  2. Click on Admin and, under the Property column, click on Create Property.
  3. Fill in your property details and select the GA4 option.

Step 2: Set Up Data Streams

Set up a data stream for your website:

  1. Select Web Data Stream for your site.
  2. Enter your website URL and stream name.
  3. Click Create Stream.


Step 3: Add GA4 Tag to Your Website

Choose one of these methods to add the GA4 tracking code:

  • Direct Integration: Copy the Global Site Tag (gtag.js) code snippet from your GA4 stream details and paste it into the <head> section of your site’s code.
  • Via Google Tag Manager: In GTM, create a new Tag. Select Google Analytics: GA4 Configuration, paste your Measurement ID, and set a trigger to load on all pages.


Step 4: Configure Events & Conversions

Now that you have the basic tracking in place, configure events:

  • Review the automatically collected events in GA4.
  • Create custom events to capture important user interactions.
  • Mark key events as conversions.


Step 5: Validate Your Setup

Ensure your tracking is working correctly:

  1. Use the DebugView in GA4 to monitor real-time events.
  2. Check the Realtime report for live traffic data.
  3. Test your site by triggering events and reviewing if they appear in GA4.

Congratulations! You have successfully set up GA4. You can now start monitoring your website traffic and events.
