I’m seeking some advice on managing page views in relation to user consent. Given the recent updates, I’m a bit unclear about one aspect – do I need to track a separate page view if a user initially denies consent but then grants it later during their stay on the same page?
With the updates to Google Consent Mode as of March 7, 2024, it’s clarified that you do not need to send a duplicate page view hit after consent is granted if the user initially did not consent. If the user navigates to a page and does not grant consent, then later decides to grant consent on the same page, the initial hits collected will be automatically processed to reflect the new consent status. This means there's no need for additional page view tracking; Google's systems will update the status of the hits accordingly.
